It is the second shooting in a Reno-area hospital in recent weeks.
CARSON CITY, Nev. — An 88-year-old man is in jail on a suicide watch after he was arrested for allegedly opening fire at a Carson City hospital Sunday and critically wounding his wife, authorities said.
William Dresser, 88, entered the hospital at about 11:20 a.m. and proceeded to the third floor. He shot the female victim once in the chest before correction officers, who were on the same floor, subdued him. He was placed under citizen’s arrest until deputies arrived shortly after, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said.
Sunday’s shooting is the second to take place on the campus of an area hospital in recent weeks.
